Professional Bio
Dr. Mark Wellnitz graduated from UW Madison in 2005 with a degree in Kinesiology and then from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2010. During his 4th year clinical rotations, Dr. Wellnitz focused on cornea and contact lenses, pediatrics, refractive surgery, and ocular disease co-management. He had an especially rewarding rotation at the Mountain Home VA in Johnson City, TN and enjoys seeing patients of all ages.
Dr. Wellnitz is originally from Jefferson, WI and although he loves Wisconsin very much, he is happy to call the Twin Cities his home since 2009. When you make an appointment with Dr. Wellnitz, you can expect it to be friendly, and informative. Dr. Wellnitz describes himself as very dedicated to his practice, always basing his decisions off of what is best for his patients.

Why I'm an Optometrist
I have always enjoyed math and physics, especially optics, and later on in my education was drawn to the healthcare field. Optometry allows me to combine all of these interests to help people every day!
I get to interact with people of all ages, different backgrounds and unique eye care needs on a daily basis. Working in a group practice allows me to build off my colleagues’ experiences and ideas to best serve our patients.
